How to Find Peace With God

Peace is something we all want.
But peace means different things to different people.
To one person peace means world peace.
To another person peace means the end of a specific war.
Some think of peace in their marriage.
Then there is peace of mind.

When we think of peace with God, what comes to your mind?
Peace from worry?
Peace from stress?

Let's look at what Jesus said peace with God is:

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.  I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Jesus said His peace was different from what the world gives.  How is Jesus peace different?

It is a peace with God.  In other words, it calls two parties which were previously in conflict, to peace.  Before we come to know Jesus as our Savior we are in conflict with God and His wrath abides upon us.  After we come to know Jesus as our Savior, we are at peace with God.  In order for there to be peace, there must have been conflict...otherwise why would we need peace?

The Bible says God has a plan to bring us to peace with Him and that plan is Jesus:

"...we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."  Romans 5:1

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"  John 3:16

"The gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23b

The Bible says our sin, our rebellion against God has separated us from God and we are in conflict with Him:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:32

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear." Isaiah 59:2

Even in our sins, even in our rebellion, God made a way for us to come to peace with Him:

"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8

Jesus asks us to repent of our sins (turn from them) and turn to Him and seek forgiveness.
We come to Jesus believing by faith in His death on the cross, that His shed blood can cleanse us from all sin and in His resurrection He is a living Savior.
Jesus is seated at the right hand of God the Father and listening for you to call upon Him now.
This is the only way to peace with God.

Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."  John 10:11

"After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.  The time has come, he said, the kingdom of God is near.  Repent and believe the good news!  Mark 1:14-15

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance.  That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..."  1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Do you want to have peace with God?

It is just a prayer away.
Praying to receive Jesus as Savior is not your last step with God, its your first step in a wonderful new life with Him.
You don't have to take communion before you come to Jesus as Savior, or be baptized, or join a church, or even get your life right...
In reality, we can't get our life right without Jesus.  When we come to Jesus as Savior, He gives us the power to live a life pleasing to Him.
And a life at peace with Him both now and forever.

Are you ready for peace with God?

Pray this in faith, believing in Jesus death, burial and resurrection, trusting in Him as your Savior.
Prayer:  Dear Jesus I know that I am a sinner and I do deserve hell.  For I have sinned against heaven by breaking your laws and commands.
And I have sinned against earth by hurting others.
But I ask you to forgive me of my sin and save me right now.
Jesus, come into my heart and life and be my Lord, my Savior and the master of my life.
For I repent of my sins, I turn from them and I turn to you now, Jesus, to walk with you, to love you and to be with you from this day forward.
In Jesus name I pray.
Amen.
