Defeating Death

Beginning with this Easter message, we are looking at the miracles of Jesus that are recorded in the Scriptures and considering what they mean for us in our contemporary world. We start with the crucifixion of Jesus and all of the miraculous signs that accompanied His death from Matthew 27:45-54.

Mark 11:1-11 – Palm Sunday

The gospels of Jesus tell us that the people who celebrated Jesus on Palm Sunday were the same ones who condemned and abandoned Him later that week, leading up to His death and resurrection. Noticing this leads us to ask questions about our own faith: How consistent am I in my relationship with Jesus? Am […]

Matthew 19:16-26 – Ble$$ed

The last “lie we believe” to investigate is often referred to as the prosperity gospel, the idea that if we honor God and have enough faith we should have piles of cash and not a financial care in the world. Join us as we look at a story of Jesus and survey the Scriptures for […]

John 17:20-26 – God Just Wants Me to Be Happy

A prevalent belief in our country is that God just wants us to be happy in this life. We certainly want to be happy and protect our happiness at all costs, but is that temporary sense of well-being the best that God has for us? Join us as we read through a prayer of Jesus […]

God Helps Those Who Help Themselves

This world is full of beliefs about God that aren’t rooted in truth, and as the church, we need to expose them and correct them with biblical knowledge. Our first attempt to do so looks at three stories of Jesus and challenges the mainstream thinking that God is mostly or even only interested in helping […]

Philippians 4:4-13 – Before You Worry

Our last study on being still leads us to consider what we can do when worry rises up inside of us. Philippians 4 offers four practical adjustments we can make while we are still to find peace in the midst of our circumstances, no matter what they may be.

Various Scriptures – Final Thoughts on Salvation

We finished our series on the topic of salvation by answering three questions that have caused disunity in the church for centuries. Join us as we consider the permanence of our salvation, the concept of predestination, and the possibilities for those who never hear the gospel of Jesus.

Romans 1:18-25 – The Process and the Choice

We are all on a journey in this life and there are typical paths we can expect to go down, depending on the choices we make. This is true in most areas of life, including as it relates to Jesus. Join us for a study in the path of salvation (with some help from John […]

Romans 6:1-14 – Why Jesus?

Romans 3:9-24 – The Problem of Sin

To begin this series on the topic of salvation, we look to Romans 3 in order to answer preliminary questions about why we need to be saved in the first place. Paul is clear that the problem is sin, and we must take time to understand the problem before we can search for or appreciate […]

Join us as we consider how to apply all of it to our lives this Christmas. This sermon includes a short skit from The […]

Matthew 25:31-46 – The Innkeeper

The innkeeper who opened his door to Mary and Joseph had no way of knowing that the Savior of the world was in his presence. Is it possible that we’ve all had similar encounters before, even without being aware of it? Matthew 25 tells us that the answer to that question is yes.

Luke 1:1-25 – Preparing the Way

The season leading up to Christmas, which we know as Advent, is in many ways about preparation. It was no different 2,000 years ago. The story of Elizabeth and Zechariah reminds us that God pulled out all the stops in preparing the way for His Son; we are called to no less now.

Hebrews 2:14-15 – Conquering our Fear of Death

The best way to conquer the giant of fear in our lives is to get to the root of it, which Hebrews 2 helps us to identify. Instead of just attacking all of the places where fear springs up in our lives, we must address it’s source, which is our fear of death–death that permeates […]

Esther and Mordecai

One of the greatest tests of our faith comes through moments of great fear, moments in which we have to decide if we are going to act in response to those fears or in response to the convictions of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. A survey through the book of Esther helps us explore […]

Joshua 1:1-11 – Joshua Takes Over
