Hebrews 4:12 – What is the Bible?

In beginning our study on the Bible, we start today by trying to answer some simple questions: What is it? Why do we have it? Where did it come from? The answer to most of these questions lies in the knowledge that we are dealing with more than words on a page. We are dealing […]

Colossians 3:12-17 – New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions come and go, and very often don’t stick. Join us as we look at Colossians 3 to consider some resolutions we can all make this year and in years to come!

Philippians 1:12-26 – Joy to the World

This is the time of year we sing about joy more than any other, but do we truly know where to find it? Joy that will last beyond December the 25th? The Apostle Paul certainly did, and so today we learn from him three keys to lasting joy.

Luke 2:1-20 – Angels From the Realms of Glory

The reoccurring presence of the Angel of the Lord around the time of the birth of Jesus is a clue for us as to just how significant His coming was. We have much to learn from observing the coming of the angel as well as considering our own awareness of the realms of glory.

Matthew 1:1-17 – O Little Town of Bethlehem

Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus helps us to see and understand that the coming of the Messiah was planned with meticulous detail from the very beginning. The timing of Jesus’ arrival, the family He was born into and even the location were all part of God’s plan.

Hebrews 1:1-3 – O Come, O Come Emmanuel

We kicked off our Advent series, in which we study the biblical stories of some favorite Christmas carols, by considering the cry of Israel: O Come, O Come Emmanuel! Join us as we journey back through time to understand why it was so necessary for God to come to save us the first Christmas.

2 Timothy 2:1-7 – Closing Thoughts

We closed our series on fighting the good fight with a few key applications and foundational reminders from 2 Timothy 2. Here, Paul relates our battle to that of a soldier, an athlete and a hard-working farmer, all of whom serve as examples of what it means to fight the good fight and do so […]

James 5:12 – Being People of Our Word

Sometimes fighting the good fight of the faith means doing the simple things, like being people of our word. It’s a simple concept, but not easy to carry out each day. Join us as we study James and his inspiration, Jesus, to learn about being people who keep our commitments.

1 Timothy 1:1-7 – False Doctrine and Meaningless Talk

In order to fight the good fight in 2014, like the Apostle Paul has commanded us to do, we need to be a church that stands up against false doctrine and avoids meaningless talk. Listen in to learn why these things are so pervasive in our society and how to systematically sort through truth and […]

1 Timothy 6:3-10, 17-19 – Not in it for the Money

The Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to “fight the good fight.” What does that mean for us as Christians in 2014? It has a number of inferences, but the one closest to this instruction from Paul in the Scriptures is a plea to Timothy and the people to make sure that they were not putting their […]

Matthew 28:16-20 – Made for a Mission

The first thing Jesus told His disciples after His resurrection was to go and make more disciples! You and I were made for a mission, which is to spread the good news of Jesus by making disciples. But how? And what does that even mean? Join us as we study Matthew 28 to answer these […]

Ephesians 2:1-10 – Shaped for Serving God

We are on this earth to do more than to receive. We are here to give back to others by serving them in the name of Jesus, so that they too can experience His love and care. God created each of us uniquely, saved us and filled us with His Spirit with this in mind!

Ephesians 4 – Created to Become Like Christ

God has done everything for us – created us, called us, saved us and set us apart for eternity. Knowing that we would be lost forever without Christ, how then should we live? How do we live up to the calling we have received through Him? Paul’s instructions in Ephesians 4 help us answer these […]

1 Corinthians 12:12-27 – Formed For His Family

You and I were not meant to live alone, even in our relationship with the Lord – we were formed for a family! Join us as we consider the role and function of the church and its members from Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians.

Romans 12:1 – Planned for God’s Pleasure

God longs for our love, He longs for our worship, He longs for our thanks and, most of all, for our very lives. What would it look like if we gave everything to God and acknowledged Him in all things, just as He longs for us to do? This is part of our purpose, because […]

Psalm 139 – Because God Made Me

Our new series in finding God’s purpose for our lives starts by understanding that the only reason we are on earth to begin with, today or at all, is because God has made it so.

Revelation 2-3 – Corrected

In Revelation 2-3, Jesus offered correction to the churches of the day, just as He offers to us now. As a good fathers disciplines his children, so Jesus shows us the way out of love and with not just an awareness of our wrong but clear instruction on how to follow Him better.

Revelation 2-3 – Commended

In the book of Revelation we find recorded words of encouragement and words of correction from Jesus to the new churches established in His name. Those words to the 1st century church still ring true to the 21st century church! Join us as we consider what the church is commended for and the reward available […]

Jonah – Lessons in Following God’s Will

Jonah was directly told God’s will for him and he literally headed off in the opposite direction! We’ve learned in previous weeks what God’s will is for us; now we learn from Jonah what to do and what not to do when it comes to actually following His will.

1 Peter 2:13-25 – Willing to Suffer

God’s will for us, His children, has more to do with our character than our comfort. Following the example of Jesus, we learn from much of the book of 1 Peter that sometimes to be in God’s will means to endure suffering for His name’s sake.
